A decade ago, Peter Sulek was the front man for a popular Slovakian band, getting ready to ink a big record deal with one of the country’s leading producers. But something told him to postpone the opportunity and sign up for another—a Philadelphia-based program, The John Jay Institute—a program that selects and trains future statesmen for lives of service. Peter said yes, and everything changed. Some months ago, he picked up his guitar once again and hit the campaign trail as a reform candidate for the Slovakian Parliament. His first run came up short, but his passion and fire for principled statesmanship hasn’t dimmed a bit.
