If you had to typecast Clifton Davis, he’d be the quintessential good guy. Naturally gifted with personal grace, charm, acting and musical talent—show business is such a comfortable fit for him. So, whether it was playing the bachelor barber Clifton Curtiss on ABCs hit series That’s My Mama or America’s most eligible inner-city pastor, Rev. Reuben Gregory on the multi-season NBC sitcom, Amen or more recently the Director of National Intelligence on the hit CBS show, Secretary of State, his characters never strayed too far from the good guy persona he’s cultivated off stage. And even when he’s starring alongside Forrest Whitaker in the crime drama Godfather of Harlem in the role of Elijah Muhammed, his roles are so often serious and sobering.
